Cisco Asks Obama to Stop Tampering

tampering of cisco equipmentJohn Chambers, the CEO of Cisco Systems, has written a letter to President Obama asking him to stop the ongoing tampering of Cisco Networking equipment by the NSA. In his letter Chambers wrote:

“if these allegations are true, these actions will undermine confidence in our industry and in the ability of technology companies to deliver products globally.”

Allegations of the NSA tampering with Cisco equipment comes from Glenn Greenwald from documents made public by Edward Snowden. These allegations state that the NSA routinely receives or intercepts networking equipment that’s destined to international destinations, and is modified to include backdoors so that the NSA is able to listen in on any network traffic.

Chambers believes that these allegations are not helping his company or the American tech sector which is increasingly being challenged by foreign competition.
