We all know that router security is closely tied to IoT (Internet of Things) because it’s so important to keep the bad guys away from all of the connected devices in your home. But how many devices is that really going to be?
An interesting article estimates that by 2017, the number of connected devices in the typical home will be 25. By 2022 that number is expected to rise to 50. The breakdown of the types of devices looks like this:
It’s interesting to see what’s expected in the future. It’s even more interesting to think that there are going to be new unimagined-as-yet devices that will be joining things like the connected car and smart light bulbs.
But one thing is for sure. The security of routers and networks will always be very important.
